Starting in Kathmandu, this adventure offers a delightful blend of cultural immersion and guided city tours. The trek through the Annapurna foothills features scenic villages and comfortable accommodations at the Mountain Lodges of Nepal. After a restful stay in Pokhara, the journey continues to Bandipur, offering a charming village experience. The itinerary includes short treks, optional walks, and cultural encounters, promising a rich blend of landscapes and traditions. This condensed journey encapsulates Nepal’s cultural heritage and Himalayan beauty in a brief yet enriching exploration, concluding with a return to Kathmandu.
As you explore the traffic-free streets of the historic Newar settlement of Bandipur, you might be reminded of an Italian walled city with its beautiful stone paving, warm stucco facades, café terraces, and vibrant bougainvillea. However, the intricate carved windows, antique resting platforms, and multi-roofed temples are distinctly Nepali. This mountain town, preserved in time, is just one of the extraordinary settlements you’ll encounter on your cultural and scenic journey. You'll sample local cuisine, engage with friendly villagers, visit schools, monasteries, and Gurkha homes, and have the option to abseil into caves, all while marveling at breathtaking views.
Day 1: Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, a representative will greet you and arrange your transfer to the group’s hotel. After checking in, you can enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. In the evening, we’ll gather for a group meeting and dinner at one of the city’s renowned restaurants.
Day 2: Today includes a guided half-day tour of the Kathmandu Valley's key landmarks, such as the Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Square, and Boudhanath Stupa. After the tour, you can relax at the hotel or explore on your own. In the evening, we’ll dine together at another top Kathmandu restaurant.
Day 3: Upon arrival in Pokhara, you'll be warmly welcomed and transported to the trek's starting point. Accompanied by a local trek crew, you'll follow a trail through the Annapurna foothills, enjoying panoramic views of the Pokhara Valley. You’ll then descend to the Mountain Lodges of Nepal (MLN) Birethanti Lodge for lunch, with the afternoon free for a stroll to Birenthanti or relaxation at the lodge.
Day 4: After breakfast, you’ll trek through farmland and small farms along the Modi Khola River, heading northwards with Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail) in view. The trail passes through hamlets, terraced rice fields, and forests, arriving at MLN Ghandruk Lodge in the late afternoon for a hot lunch and spectacular views of the Annapurna Massif.
Day 5: Following a scenic breakfast at Himalaya Lodge, you'll descend steeply to the Modi River, possibly spotting honey hunters on the cliffs. After crossing the river via a suspension bridge, you’ll climb to the village of Landruk for more stunning Annapurna views. Post-lunch, your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of this picturesque village.
Day 6: Departing Landruk, today’s trek contours the valley side to the east and heads south through picturesque villages and farmland, with views of the Annapurnas. You'll reach MLN Majhgaon in time for lunch. The lodge, designed to resemble a traditional Nepalese village, offers spectacular views. The afternoon can be spent exploring nearby villages or relaxing in the lodge gardens.
Day 7: This morning's trek passes through Patlekhet village and sub-tropical forests. At Pothana, where Tibetan traders sell souvenirs, you'll stop before reaching MLN Dhampus for lunch. The lodge offers panoramic views of the entire Annapurna Range. After lunch, there’s an optional walk through Dhampus village.
Day 8: After breakfast, you’ll take a short downhill walk to the Yangdi Khola Valley, where a vehicle will transfer you to Pokhara. En route, you can visit a Tibetan refugee camp. In Pokhara, settle into a resort hotel at Lakeside. The afternoon is free to explore, take a boat on the lake, or visit the ‘Peace Stupa.’ Dinner will be back at the hotel.
Day 9: An early drive to Bandipur, a traditional Newari village, will be followed by lunch at the ‘Old Inn’ and a village tour. Bandipur’s 18th-century architecture and narrow streets are fascinating. A short trek from Bandipur descends into a valley of forest and farmland before a steady climb to Three Mountain Lodge, which offers views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu. Drinks are served around a fireplace before dinner.
Day 10: Start the day with tea or coffee and, weather permitting, enjoy views of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Makalu peaks. After breakfast, you can take a short walk to visit local schools or hike to a higher viewpoint for a more impressive panorama. After lunch, explore nearby villages with your guide and meet retired Gurkhas. Return to Three Mountain Lodge for the night.
Day 11: Following breakfast, walk back to Bandipur and drive along the Prithvi Highway to Kathmandu. After checking into your hotel, there will be time to rest before dinner.
